Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Be a resident or a student enrolled in a college or graduate school in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery or Philadelphia Counties in PA, or Burlington, Camden or Gloucester Counties in NJ.
- Must have an education institution with 501(c)(3) tax status or another 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization as a sponsor of the project.
- Must not be an employee of your sponsoring organization.
- Must have two letters of reference from faculty members, managers or directors of 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations, and/or community leaders.
- Must address problems faced by women, girls and/or families in the Greater Philadelphia area.
Overall Criteria:
We are looking for an emerging social entrepreneur with an innovative project idea involving a new solution to a major problem affecting a segment of women, girls, and families in the Greater Philadelphia area.
Selection Criteria
Applicants and their ideas will be judged on these criteria:
- Definition of problem: Description of specific major problem affecting a segment of women, girls, and families in the Greater Philadelphia area, demonstrating an understanding of the problem and the pervasiveness and/or importance of the problem. (Statistics preferred.)
- Project goals and impact: Specific, quantifiable, and obtainable project goals with clear definition of expected impact on the problem during the first year.
- Innovativeness of idea: How the project is different from other programs in the area in some significant way.
- Feasibility of project plan: Project’s action steps, timeline and budget are realistic to implement the project.
- Vision of success: Applicant’s vision of success in the long-term.
- Experience or skill set: Applicant’s experience or skill set relevant to the proposed project.
- Entrepreneurial spirit: Applicant should exemplify entrepreneurial spirit including enthusiasm, high quality presentation, creativity, and likelihood to succeed.
